30 Day Sketch Challenge
After a busy summer, and a busy August in particular, I thought I'd kick the fall job hunting and working off with this popular 30 day sketch challenge. The idea is to do all 30 drawings on the list in 30 days---so more to come!

Weddin Invites
I was approached a little while back to design a wedding invitation for some friend's of the family. They needed it quick and luckily had a very good idea of what they needed! It was fun, and in the end everyone was happy. I just wanted to post a couple piece from the invite package. I also did some RSVP cards and whatnot, but the invite itself and the map are the heart of the package, IMO.
I've changed names and dates to respect the privacy of the couple.
I have family ties in Winona, MN, which is a small town in South Western MN, so it was fun to do make up a simplified map.

Random Graphic Design post
I don't do graphic design a lot--Its something I need to remedy. I recently did a wedding invitation for a great couple who I know through a family member, and it was a nice change of pace. I'll post it when I get it internet friendly.
But did this today and I'm relatively happy with parts of it. I think its mostly the colors. I usually do such toned down color palettes, it was nice to do something bright and eye catching for a change.
I 'm still usuing photoshop for all of this though. I tried to be good and use illustrator, but its just feels so confining. I really need to up my proficiency in that software. Any suggestions?
Anyway..
I took this...
And made it into this...
I could have probably continued to work on it and get something better, but when I get like one day out of the month to do all of our print and internet marketing, time is generally of the essence.
Oh well! (It also print so much brighter and more fun)
I'll try to find some art to post soon.

This weekend WIP
Started this pic this weekend. the hair was different when I started it, so I'll probably post an alternate.
Only partly done with the color-glaze. I got interrupted tonight by all the news! Happy with how it look so far though.

Commissions
I've been busy lately with a few commissions and some floral holidays.
The commissions are what's relevant, and I'm going to try to post some here.
Starting with this painting I did! It was a request for an old-fashioned romantic scene in front of the couple's favorite restaurant here in the Twin Cities. I'll always wish I had more time on everything I do, but I enjoyed breaking from my usual and painting some architecture.

Just keep swimming
It's been an interesting few weeks..or was it a month? I don't even know. My concept of time continues to warp.
I'm just trying to keep moving, keep working, keep my head up (or down), and keep producing art.
Here's some I've done in the last ...while.
This is a fanart piece from a project my good friend Bev has been working on. It's really quite brilliant--I recommend heading over to her blog and taking a look. She's redicu-talanted. The character design and concept belongs to her.
Just a sketchbook page.

Harry Torter
I did this illustration for the play that the UofM's Law School Theater group "T.O.R.T" (Theater of the Relatively Talentless, I believe) puts on ever year. Last year's production was hilarous so I volunteered to do the playbill art for this year's Harry Potter inspired production. It was a blast.
If you're in the Minneapolis area, it'll be on March 5th and 6th at the Pantages, and it will be hilarious. Get some tickets here!
For more on TORT, check out their site.
Thought I'd throw this up too; working on painting that Celestine sketch. I did find those pictures of the original model as well...
