Celestine

So, my boyfriend was a big Warhammer buff back in the day (something I didn't learn until we'd been dating awhile) and has a pretty handsome collection of hand painted miniatures.  I thought this was pretty much awesome, as I simply don't have the kind of patience he does where he can paint things that teeny tiny.  Suffice it to say he's painted a couple for me as gifts, and the most recent one was particularly cool.   She was sitting on my desk today so I drew her.  I'm gunna find images I took of the miniature itself and post them when I can but here's this for now.

Some sketches and...a..Naruto Fanart? What?

Some pages from my sketchbook over the last couple days.

Okay yeah I'm a little bit of a Naruto fan.  The MANGA.  The anime is pretty much garbage, but Kishimoto is a fantastic talent.  He writes (and draws) fascinating characters, and Naruto is acctually one of those stories where I have no idea how he's going to resolve the conflicts he's created an the character's he's grown.  Sometimes I go "Well he's really just gotta kill everyone off now".maybe he will.
I don't know why but Final Fantasy 8 was always a favorite of mine.  I could never decide if I liked Rinoa or not but in the end I think I did.

Secret

Secret commission I was working on for Alex Pelayre The Magnificent.  His girlfriend, the great Lisa Price commissioned a bunch of work from a bunch of artists and compiled them.  This was my contribution.

um?

Whoa, has it been since Nov. 2nd since I posted stuff??  ..*runs to get scanner* .
I'm sorry.

Updatez

Just a couple of thiiinnngssssssss.

I'm back to being able to work on personal stuff and loving it.  I'm taking (free) requests for fan-art to beef up my brand new deviant-art portfolio (laugh), so shoot that on a comment and you'll see it pop up here eventually.

For those wondering what ever happened to that comic book thing?  Lets just agree to never speak of it again and leave it at that.

In the  mean time enjoy the updates and ...life?  I don't know.

Seattle Bound

Its hard to believe its been a year since I've graced the streets of Seattle.  I imagine the Lower Queen Anne Zeeks Pizza and the 2nd and Bell Subway miss me just as much as my friends (more, probably.).

Tomorrow evening B and I will be in first class seats on our way to Seattle, and it's surreal.  It doesn't feel like it's been a year, and it feels 100% natural to be 'going back'.  What's wierd is it's only for 3 nights, not 3 months.

Point being: I'm sorry I haven't gotten around to posting more. I do have things that I want to put up here, but things have been nuts getting ready for this trip, my family taking their own trip, and trying to clear my plate of work (never going to happen).  I'll have lots to put up when I return...probably some things that regard the...

PennyArcadeXpo!

It's comepletely rediculous that I never went when I lived 5 blocks from the convention center, but it's a damn good excuse to get out there now.  I'm incredably excited.  I'm definitly not the gamer I was a few years ago (I rarely play anything now'an days) but its a fantastic craft and a fascinating culture.
Needless to say, I'm pumped to be heading West again.  It's my favorite direction to go.

The Project

Alright.  I lost a battle with a glass shelf today, and it was a long day besides that.  Therefor, I unfortunatly have still not gotten around to posting those other two pieces I wanted to put up here.

I'd still like to get into talking about the comic I've been working on but passive aggressive drama, a long day at work, and the aforementioned mild head injury have just exhausted that drive.

Suffice it to say I've been working with a start up company as they launch their first books.  While the politics have been less than fun and it's been a lot of work, I've had a blast working with the other artists and have met a lot of really cool people.  It's been fun getting my name out in print too, and while Google Analytics says it's really made no impact, I'm hoping that changes down the line.

I'll post more details, links, and images in the near future.   For now you can 'Facebook Search' 'Under Dog Comics' and take a look around.

Update

Ugh I had 2 others on the block to get up here today and I wound up renting movies instead.  But that's ok.  I still got a lot of work done this evening...here's a little bit of it.  Tomorrow I hope to make a post concerning the comic I've been working on.  As it is released, I can talk about it more freely and whatnot, but now is not that time.
But  my goal is to improve my online presence and update my work and portfolio, so I'm going to try to do better about posting here.  Bare (bear?) with me as I make that attempt.
Did this today.  I love doing effects.  This is an old character I periodically go back to draw; it was fun to do so today.
More to come tomorrow, I think.

Why I am dead to the world

Most everyone knows this already but the reason I stopped posting here is because I haven't had time to draw anything un-related to the project I am currently working on.  Hopefully once we launch said project and things get more regular, I'll be able to find time to draw personal stuff, but for now bear with me and check back in a month.

I'll also post when the project is done so ya'll can check it out!

I didn't do these every night over the weekend, but I had an idea for them each night and tried to remember. So I sat down and did them tonight and am posting them now. Good enough, right?

Nightly Sketch: 3.24.10 & 3.25.10

Yeah I did to a sketch page last night but I forgot to upload it. Nearly went to bed tonight without uploading/ drawing again tonight but...I didn't ...cuz Im trying to like...DO this.

Yeah so I write alot when I can't draw...just random crap. So...don't expect pages full of drawings every night. That would be absurd. Like I was an artist or something. Psh...Pshhh.

So heres Wednesday night and tonight's pages.

Lets try something new, shall we?

My father came downstairs tonight and handed me the weirdest looking planner (?) I'd ever seen. It's a funny shape (larger than an 8.5 x 11 in length) and it really has no logical organizational layout. Its primarily a big blank page with some letters and numbers and a circle in the corner where you COULD potentially write the month...Yea. Intrigued I took the one he offered. I don't do well with planners, since I'm used to just writing everything in my sketchbook. But I do keep a notebook in my purse and I just thought that maybe this weird thing was for me. Well I started drawing in it, and realized it would be an interesting thing if I tried to doodle in it every night before bed...so yeah. We'll see how that goes. Here's tonight's page.

Sketchbook.

I'm always trying to get into the habit of posting things from my every day sketchbook. I usually don't do so well, but lately I've been bringing colored pencils to work and doodling in my spare time between customers. Mostly I've been going back to add some color to old drawings, which is easy and fun, and I've been happy with the results.

Oh,right.

I have a blog and I'm supposed to put things on it. I'm an artist.

There are alot of things I'd like to address with this painting but I'm too tired to go in depth.

I will say that it is much different to work on a piece over time and at one's leisure than it is to rush though and finish with a deadline in mind. With this piece, I have no excuse to not go back and fix something I see wrong. Its interesting. Its freeing, and exhausting and frusterating, but it's just good to keep working.

I did a sculpture for the Foot in the Door 4 show at MIA. I'm not going to post pictures right now, since I think they may get put into an online gallery via MIA anyway, but the show opens February 18th. I'm relatively happy with the piece, but I wish I had had more time. I found out about the show about a week before the drop off started, and didn't acctually have much time to sit down and work until 2 days before the drop off started. Then there was the reality that I wouldn't have the time to go drop off the piece. Luckily things fell into line and I was able to finish the piece to my semi-satisfaction and run down to drop it. I'm eternally grateful for the short line, deceptively smooth traffic and lovely co-worker that made it possible to submit, as well as my aunt for telling me about the show in the first place.
