Painting with paint

Started the under painting for a commissioned traditional piece.  Getting frustrated fitting everything on in the way I want it on there but I think I just need to step away from it for awhile.  Only an hour or two into it at this point.  PS Its going to be the  Minneapolis skyline.

Sketch Dump-- 4.3.12

A sketch dump---I am fighting with my scanner---or more so with scanning onto a PC :/   I usually use my mac for art-related things but as I am half asleep and a little loopy, and the PC was right there in front of my face..well.  So I apologize for poor scan quality.  Some of these are rather old, since its been awhile since I have scanned out of my sketchbooks.

Enjoy.

Allawdin 2012--Did I ever mention it was awesome?

Just realized as I am organizing some things that I never mentioned how fabulous the  tenth annual TORT play was this year!  They parodied "Alladin" this year and did a fantastic job.  Great singing, great choreography, hilarious jokes and all by law students!

My father is a musician and was quite impressed with some of the more difficult harmonies.
My brother (who is a U of M alumni and participated in the play the last two years), was thrilled, claiming it was far beyond what he was part of in previous years.
We all enjoyed it so much, and if the standing ovations and group sing along at the end were any indication, I'm fairly certain the entire audience of the Pantages did as well.

So thanks to the production team for letting me be a part of the process again this year.
Looking forward to next year's production!

Ch-ch-changes

If you are a frequent visitor (hi Grandpa!), you may notice some layout changes, and even some test pages popping up here and there. I am moving towards making Blogger my primary host for web-content--i.e. phasing out my web-hosting and moving my content here. This will be a process, so forgive any strange postings, but do check back regularly to see what's happening!

Playbill--final?

Awaiting approval from the producer but here is what I just sent off!
I have to say I hit a lot of blocks with this and if I had my way I would have probably walked away from it for a week and come back...but the show must go on!
When I get info for ticket sales I will post them--- Again this is for the University of Minnesota Law School's Theatre of the Relatively Talentless (TORT) and their annual musical which raises funds for the school .  It is incredibly well produced and just a blast..not to mention filled with lots of talent!

TORT-2012

Its time again for the University of Minnesota Law School Musical!
Working once again on the playbill for this year's presentation of "Allawdin" for which I am very excited.

Here is the preliminary art--no color yet still working on overall paint and struggling with some faces.

New year, new art.

Just painted this in a few hours tonight.  Going to try very hard to do more art this year and get it up on this blog and onto my website.  So check back often.
This is mostly just color-inspired.  My day job is at a florist, so there is a lot of inspiration there as far as color goes.
