Sketchbook.

I'm always trying to get into the habit of posting things from my every day sketchbook. I usually don't do so well, but lately I've been bringing colored pencils to work and doodling in my spare time between customers. Mostly I've been going back to add some color to old drawings, which is easy and fun, and I've been happy with the results.

Oh,right.

I have a blog and I'm supposed to put things on it. I'm an artist.

There are alot of things I'd like to address with this painting but I'm too tired to go in depth.

I will say that it is much different to work on a piece over time and at one's leisure than it is to rush though and finish with a deadline in mind. With this piece, I have no excuse to not go back and fix something I see wrong. Its interesting. Its freeing, and exhausting and frusterating, but it's just good to keep working.

I did a sculpture for the Foot in the Door 4 show at MIA. I'm not going to post pictures right now, since I think they may get put into an online gallery via MIA anyway, but the show opens February 18th. I'm relatively happy with the piece, but I wish I had had more time. I found out about the show about a week before the drop off started, and didn't acctually have much time to sit down and work until 2 days before the drop off started. Then there was the reality that I wouldn't have the time to go drop off the piece. Luckily things fell into line and I was able to finish the piece to my semi-satisfaction and run down to drop it. I'm eternally grateful for the short line, deceptively smooth traffic and lovely co-worker that made it possible to submit, as well as my aunt for telling me about the show in the first place.
